Who we are

The Innovation Makers Challenge (IMC) 2023 is a flagship initiative organised by the Telecommunication and Technology Sustainability Working Group (TTSWG) to empower and recognise young innovators within the technology and telecommunications sector in Nigeria. By participating in the IMC, applicants agree to comply with the terms and conditions provided herein. In this T&Cs, TTSWG and IMC may be used interchangeably.

Eligibility

The IMC is open to young innovators aged 18 to 35 years within the Technology & Telecommunications Sector across Nigeria. Applicants must adhere to the specified submission guidelines and meet TTSWG’s eligibility criteria.

Submission Process

Participants must submit original inventive or innovative technology-driven services and products aligned with developmental objectives. Submissions must adhere to prescribed guidelines and timelines provided by TTSWG. All late, incomplete, illegible, altered, reproduced, forged, irregular, fraudulent, non-compliant with the rules, or obtained through unauthorised sources entries, are void and such applications will not be considered.

Multiple submissions by a single applicant to the same category will be disqualified.

Timely submission is advised; organisers are not responsible for non-receipt due to server errors/traffic.

Forms must be submitted in English.

Selection Process

From submitted entries, a panel of experts designated by TTSWG will select 20 participants for the Innovators Boot Camp. The top 5 innovators identified at the Boot Camp will be given a unique chance to present their concepts to the judges subsequently. The Organisers reserve the right to select or reject any submission without assigning reason and without liability.

Entries including proprietary information should be avoided, as they will be shared with evaluators and mentors for evaluation and mentoring purposes.

Participants affirm the originality of their submissions and agree not to violate third-party rights.
TTSWG is not responsible for logistical needs of participants, but may intervene on a need-to basis.

Innovators Boot Camp


The shortlisted 20 innovators will attend an intensive Innovators Boot Camp designed to provide mentorship, guidance, and feedback from established industry professionals. Participation in the virtual Boot Camp is mandatory for shortlisted individuals.


Innovators Conference and Exhibition

The top innovators from the Boot Camp will showcase their ideas to a panel of judges and a broader audience during the Innovators Conference and Exhibition on Thursday, 9 November 2023. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners during this event.

Prizes

Cash prizes of N2m, N1m and N500,000, will be awarded to the winner, first runner-up, and second runner-up, respectively. Prizes are non-transferable. Winners are responsible for taxes on prize money.

Prize disbursement will be as per applicable rules on the day of disbursement.

Prize money will be transferred to the winner’s bank account after results are announced.

Intellectual Property

While participants retain intellectual property rights to their submissions, they grant TTSWG, or other affiliated third-party, the right to feature their entries, concepts, and products in promotional materials and our/their websites.

It is the responsibility of participants to trademark and/or copyright their submissions to protect their intellectual property. TTSWG or IMC will not be held responsible for any suspected or perceived copy infringement related to participants’ submission. Any concepts presented by the TTSWG or IMC before, on or after the awards, are unique and independent ideas of our team and advisors, and will not be liable to any legal culpaiblity.

Code of Conduct

Participants are expected to maintain professional conduct and adhere to ethical standards throughout the IMC, including the Boot Camp, Conference, and Exhibition.

Disqualification

TTSWG reserves the right to disqualify participants failing to comply with terms and conditions, providing false information, or engaging in misconduct, or other reason deemed expedient by TTSWG

Changes and Cancellations

TTSWG retains the right to modify or cancel aspects of the IMC, its award, prizing, and all other particulars at its discretion without liability.

The organisation reserves the right to choose winners at its own discretion, in a fair manner, without liability to participants.

Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Nigeria.

By participating in the Innovation Makers Challenge (IMC) 2023, applicants acknowledge their understanding and acceptance of these terms and conditions.
